Chesterfield County real estate, especially in areas north and west in the county, is considered to be some of the most valuable in the Richmond Metro Area. Chesterfield County borders the City of Richmond on the south side and is bounded by the James River along its northern border.

Chesterfield County, also known as “Southside” is one of the largest counties in the Metro area and is home to a large portion of the region’s housing stock. Chesterfield is accessed by 3 main arterials (Route 60 or Midlothian Turnpike, Route 360 or Hull Street and Route 10), 1 expressway (Powhite Parkway | Route 76) and one interstate (Route 288.)

Northern Chesterfield is home to many luxury subdivisions along the Robious Road corridor including Salisbury, Founder’s Bridge, Tarrington, King’s Grant and Riverton. This area is often referred to as Midlothian. Bon Air is also located in the Northern Chesterfield area and is home to many ‘turn of the century’ homes along Buford Road.

As you move south from Midlothian, you begin to transition into an area referred to as ‘Chesterfield.’ Located primarily between route 60 and 360, Chesterfield is in high growth mode with the many sections of Charter Colony, Brandermill, Woodlake, Hampton Park, Fox Fire, Edgewater at the Reservoir and Watermill. These names represent only a small number of the neighborhoods in this area.

As you move further to the South and East, you enter areas that are accessed by Route 10 and 288 around the Chesterfield Courthouse. This area is home to the luxury subdivisions of The Highlands, Woodland Pond and Chesdin Landing, along with many other mid-priced options as well. The completion of Route 288 roughly 10-12 years ago had a dramatic effect on the area as the ability to access the area had always been its limiting factor. These areas of the county also provide the rural options within the county.

The southern and eastern sections of Chesterfield also begin to house the more industrial sections of Chesterfield and are home to the Chesterfield Air Park as well as many large manufacturing facilities along Routes 10, 1 and I 95. Southern and eastern Chesterfield is home to Chester and borders the other two city/town areas that comprise the “Tri-City” area of Petersburg and Hopewell. Both Petersburg and Hopewell, and to some extent, Chester, all are experiencing growth due to the expansion of Fort Lee.
